The elbow that extends past zero degree is seen in many children and more frequently with women than men. It is not unusual to see an elbow hyper-extended 10 degrees. When the elbow over extends under force, strain is placed on the surrounding annular ligament and flexor, rotary muscles surrounding the elbow. In sports, taping to prevent elbow snapping may be helpful. Development of the brachialis muscle and radio-ulnar muscles will help correct and prevent over-extension, including specific pronation, supination, and lower triceps strength exercise
